Working Mechanism

  • A bulkhead fitting provides piping connections to a tank.
  • Firstly, a hole is cut in the tank in which the fitting body is inserted.
  • The locknut is threaded onto the body for holding it in place.
  • The locknut exerts pressure on the gasket, ensuring a liquid-tight seal.

Frequently Asked Questions

How tight should bulkhead fitting be?

Firstly, it should be hand tight and turned quarterly for snugging up the retaining nut. Over-tightening the bulkhead can also damage either the tank or bulkhead.

How do you measure bulkhead fittings?

Measure the outer diameter of the PVC pipe that will go into the bulkhead and take the bulkhead off to measure the hole in the glass. Once you measure the OD of the pipe, you will require a reference pipe chart for determining the nominal pipe size.
