Center punches are designed to measure the center of a point or a hole for precise drilling in construction, plumbing and industrial applications. Raptor Supplies offers a wide variety of center, pin & self-center punches, as well as machinist scribers from brands like Ampco, Brown & Sharpe, Dasco Pro, Mayhew, Proto, Stanley and Starrett. Proto center punches are used to mark a broad hole, intersecting center lines and pilot drill starting point. They have a single-piece, heat-treated S2 steel body for strength & durability, and their parabolic striking end reduces mushrooming & chipping effects. These high-quality center punches feature a polished identification panel on one side, with the size and the tool number marked in a black inlay. We also offer machinist scribers from General for lifting O-rings & gaskets, and cleaning small grooves in automotive or machining environments. These two-in-one etching tools feature hardened, ground steel needle points that are fixed to the knurled body, with one straight end & the other bent at an angle of 90 degrees. They have a one-handed design which does not require a hammer and utilises the spring impact mechanism for operation. These high-quality punches are available in black oxide, blue anodised, blue corrosion-resistant and knurled finish variants.
Choose a center punch size that matches the size of the drill bit or a slightly smaller one to ensure accuracy and prevent slipping.
To prevent slipping, ensure that the surface is clean & free of debris and use light, controlled force when striking the tool.
To maintain your center punch, keep it clean & dry and periodically sharpen or hone the tip to ensure it remains sharp.
