KStarrett inside micrometers use interchangeable rods for measuring the inside dimensions of pipes, tubes, cylinders, rings and holes. These micrometers are equipped with rods having insulated handles for minimising expansion from heat. They come integrated with ground steel supporting collars that are placed in V grooves for fine adjustments in the measurement range, when used in the horizontal position. Inside micrometres are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure the inside diameter of holes, tubes & pipes, and groove sizes for O-rings & washer grooves. Raptor Supplies offers a wide array of various Brown and Sharpe, Mitutoyo, Starrett and Westward inside micrometres in flat, curved and pin anvils with a maximum accuracy of +/-0.00016 inches. These micrometres offer a chrome-plated surface for glare-free resolution up to 0.0002 inches and a lock nut / clamp to provide positive locking of spindles. They come equipped with hardened steel tips to prevent damage and interchangeable extension rods for a diverse range of measurements.
While using an inside micrometer, the operator must first choose the suitable anvil size and manipulate its position via the micrometer screw. Next, the micrometer is inserted into the bore or hole for measurement, and the anvil is fine-tuned until it touches the interior wall of the bore. At this point, the user can take note of the measurement displayed on the micrometer scale.
To maintain an inside micrometer, it is necessary to maintain cleanliness and ensure it is free from debris or any harmful elements that may impact its precision. The measuring surfaces must be safeguarded from any damage, and the micrometer should be stored in a controlled environment with dry & consistent temperature conditions.
