Manual Chain Hoists

Manual chain hoists are used to manually lift and lower heavy loads using a chain. They are ideal for manoeuvring loads in buildings, warehouses, storage areas and factories. These chain hoists feature a spur gear for wounding the chain when the chain is pulled for lifting the item. Hoist trollies are used where long hook travel is required and loads need to be lifted in a straight line. They are equipped with trolley wheels for portability and brakes for reliable stopping at the drop point. The friction-reducing ball bearings and chain guides prevent jams. Selected chain hoists come equipped with safety latch-on hooks to prevent accidental slipping of loads and a standard load limiter to prevent hoists from lifting loads beyond the rated capacity. Working Mechanism

  • The working mechanism of manual chain hoists is based on a simple mechanical principle of the lever system.
  • They comprise a lever arm, a load-bearing chain and a hook.
  • When the operator applies force to the lever arm, the lever system multiples the force and converts it into a pulling force on the chain.
  • As the lever arm is moved back & forth, the chain is pulled through the lifting mechanism, causing the load to be lifted off the ground.
  • The operator can control the speed and direction of the lifting motion by adjusting the position of the lever arm.
