Stud finders (or stud detectors and stud sensors) are handheld devices used with wood buildings to locate framing studs behind drywalls. Raptor Supplies offers a wide array of Bosch, C.H. Hanson, CST/Berger, Johnson, Stanley and Zircon. They use electronic signals to locate the edges of studs, joists or live AC wires through wood, drywall, tile, stucco, plaster, concrete and other non-metallic surfaces. Selected models also employ magnets to locate metallic objects and then help mark the stud edges with a spotlight pointing system which projects a beam of light on the wall.
