Tee-Joints

Tee joints are ideal for connecting a pipe / tubing to another pipe system that is approximately perpendicular to it and forming two right angles similar to the letter T. These connectors are suitable for directing fluid flow in a particular direction, dividing it in two directions or combining flow from two streams into a single stream. Raptor Supplies offers tee joints from brands like Dixon, Thomas & Betts, Watts and Valco. They are used to transport liquids or gases while ensuring proper sealing of the joint to prevent leaking at the connection points.

Features

  • A tee joint's main run pipe is called the header whereas the other pipe is called the branch.
  • Generally, the branch size is smaller or equal to the header size.
  • Tee joints having branches smaller than the header are called reducing tee joints.
  • They can be welded, threaded or connected to compatible tubing / pipes.
  • Some tee joints can also fit together like puzzle pieces using screws for adjustability.
  • Selected tee joints can connect tubings / pipe at angles other than standard right angles.
  • The flow through the tee joints can be controlled by a compatible valve.
  • These joints are available in steel, stainless steel, plastic & brass variants for handling diverse pressure requirements.
  • Dixon tee joints are available in run, reducing & bull head types, as well as male / female thread & unthreaded connection styles.
  • Watts tee joints are made of lead-free brass, polypropylene or polysulfone, and have quick connect (push to connect) mechanism for easy installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What items are compatible with these tee joints?

These tee joints allow the free flow of acids, alcohols, lubricants, pharmaceuticals, gases, fuels, coolants, oils, dairy, food, solvents, wooden chips, glass, steam, water and air.

How are the genders of tee joints different?

Tee-joints can be either male or female. Generally, male ends of the tee joint have external threading and diameters less than the internal diameters of pipe / tubing. In contrast, female ends of tee joints have internal threading and diameters greater than that of the pipe / tubing.

What does pipe schedule mean?

Pipe schedule, generally marked on the pipe's outer surface, refers to the pipe's wall thickness. Higher the schedule number, the thicker the walls and the smaller the internal diameter (ID). Pipes having high schedule or thick walls can handle high pressures. But users should keep in mind that thick walls can restrict the flow. Pipes having low schedule & thin walls allow more flow in low-pressure settings.
