Frequently Asked Questions
How to adjust the cutting radius using these gasket cutters?
They have a sliding knurled nut on the aluminium cutter block that adjusts the cutting radius on the gasket material.
What maximum cutting diameters do these gasket cutters support?
Their plated steel extension bars provide cutting support up to 49 inches in diameter.
What is the difference between 4000 Series & 3000 Series light-duty gasket cutter kits?
4000 Series gasket cutter kits are medium-duty and feature aluminium cutter blocks, whereas 3000 Series light duty kits have plastic cutter blocks that are suitable for light-duty tasks in machine shops. Additionally, 3000 Series cutter kits can cut gaskets up to 37 inches in diameter, whereas 4000 Series kits support up to 49 inch diameter gasket cutting.
How do these extension style gasket cutters work?
These gasket cutters have a cutting block fitted with a cutting blade. The material sheet is fixed onto the gasket cutter board to cut the gasket. The cutting block is placed onto the sheet and rotated afterwards. As it rotates, the blade cuts the material in a perfect circle.
What is the difference between thinner & thicker gaskets?
Thicker gasket materials create more flange irregularities upon sealing. Their higher creep relaxation indicates that the fasteners have to maintain adequate compressive load onto the gasket material throughout the life of the joint. Extra thin gaskets slightly raise the compression ratio and may also fail to keep the pressure contained. That is why the gasket thickness should be decided based on the parameters concerned with the application requirement.
