A shunt trip (ST) is a device that provides a remote means of tripping the circuit breaker. When the shunt trip device is activated, it sends a signal to the circuit breaker to trip the contacts.
An auxiliary switch is a device that operates due to the movement of the circuit breaker contacts. When the contacts move from the closed to the open position or vice versa, the auxiliary switch changes its state to provide a signal to a remote device.
