It is a type of electrical relay having more than one set of contacts that can be independently switched on and off. It is often used in applications where multiple circuits need to be controlled simultaneously, including automation systems, control panels, lighting systems and power distribution systems.
Side-mounted contact blocks in machine tool relays provide additional poles in applications where a pneumatic timer is installed on the front of the relay or where panel depth is restricted.
