NOEM stands for 'Normally Open, Emergency Close'. These contact blocks are used with electromagnetic devices, such as solenoids or motors. It has a normally open (NO) contact, which opens the circuit as long as the movable contact is not pressed against the stationary contact. During emergencies, the NOEM contact block can be activated to close the circuit and stop the equipment or machinery.
The difference between NO and NC contact blocks is the state of the circuit when the control device is not activated. NO contact blocks are open when the control device is not activated, while NC contact blocks are closed when the control device is not activated.
