LEESON Farm Duty/Agricultural Motors, Single Phase, TEAO, Resilient Base-Thru Bolt
Marathon farm duty / agricultural motors are suitable for demanding environments of agricultural applications. These single-phase motors offer rugged construction and a permanent split capacitor for producing high starting torque.
Split-phase motors come with a single cage rotor and a stator with two windings (main and starting) displaced 90 degrees in space.
The main winding has low resistance and high inductive reactance, while the starting winding has high resistance & low inductive reactance.
As the current in the two windings is not equal, the rotating field is not uniform. Hence, the starting torque is smaller than the stated starting torque.
Just as the motor reaches the speed of 70 to 80 percent of the synchronous speed, the starting winding splits automatically from the main supply.
Now, the motor starts running on the main winding only, providing increased torque to perform the desired application.
Features
Farm Duty Motors, such as 5KH42JN0328S features resilient base-extended studs for suspending the motor to dampen vibrations and noise during the operation.
Their single-phase design delivers speeds up to 1800 rpm and has keyed or flat type motor shaft for efficient energy conversion.
These farm duty motors are available in a split-phase / PSC (permanent split capacitor) / capacitor-start / capacitor-run motor design and are capable of producing higher starting torque in agricultural equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a TEAO enclosure?
TEAO (totally enclosed air over) enclosure is typically installed in the airstream where the air movement generated by the fan passes over the motor to cool it.
What is the purpose of motor thermal protection?
Motor thermal protectors help to shut off the motor operation during excessive heat generation and reset the power as soon as the motor cools down.
What are ball bearings?
Ball bearings are lubricated moving components that provide smooth and continuous operation of a motor by reducing frictional loss.
