CondorSK-R3/16 thermal overload blocks are used with Condor MDR3 Series pressure switches for overload protection in 3 phase equipment, such as air compressors, mixers, elevators & conveyors. The contacts inside the thermal overload block open up based on the heat generated when the current flowing through the unit is high enough to cause damage to connected equipment. Overload may be caused due to fault in bearing, shaft coupling & motor drive setting or external factors like the improper power supply.
Working Mechanism:
- Disconnect power & remove the pressure switch from the equipment. Take out the casing.
- Remove the old thermal overload & replace it with a new Condor SK-R3/16 thermal overload block by removing the screws & hooking it into the ground plate. Attach the screws in place again.
- Adjust the current setting in the thermal overload within the given range (10 to 16A) by turning the yellow coloured disc at the top to the marked Amperes.
- Wire according to the instructions & place the casing back. Connect back the modified pressure switch into the equipment.
- In the event of an overload or phase failure, the current rises above the set current level.
- This rise in current heats the bimetal strips within the relay that operate the auxiliary contacts. Excess heating causes tripping and switching Off of the load.
- Bimetal strips take time to cool down after tripping due to overload. The overload relay gets reset after it has cooled down.
Features:
- Condor SK-R3/16 3-Phase thermal overload block protects the equipment by cutting power if it draws excessive current for an extended time.
- It can be adjusted to the desired current rating ranging from 10 to 16A.
- This Condor SK-R3/16 thermal overload block has maximum voltage rating of 600VAC.
- Raptor Supplies also offers Condor SK-R3/10 thermal overload having current rating range from 6.3 to 10A.
Compatible Accessories:
- Condor MDR3 Series Pressure Switches: Condor SK-R3/16 thermal overload blocks are used to replace old, worn-out or faulty thermal overload parts of these pressure switches.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. How do you adjust a Condor MDR3 Series pressure switch?
A. - Remove the casing of the pressure switch after disconnecting it from the equipment.
- Turn the yellow disc on top of the thermal overload block to the desired current ratings.
- The cut-in & cut-out pressure can be set by turning the calibrating screw on the relay clockwise (for increasing) or anti-clockwise (for decreasing).
- The difference between cut-in & cut-out pressure or differential pressure can be adjusted using the screw next to the calibration screw.
- Users can also replace old, faulty or worn-out thermal overload blocks, unloader valves & other parts.
- Now that the pressure switch is set up, put the casing back on and connect it to the desired application.
Q. What is the use of a thermal overload block?
A. The thermal overload block protects the application from damage in case of a short circuit, over-load or overheating. Generally, the thermal overload relay gets activated by sensing heat caused by high current flow.
