Eaton QC2100 thermal-magnetic circuit breaker is designed to protect an appliance against overloading and short-circuiting. This MCB is ideal for installation in load centres or fuseboxes.
Working Mechanism:
- The MCB features a bimetal strip and an electromagnet for aiding in tripping conditions, providing safety against fire hazards. It comes in three positions - ON, OFF and TRIPPED.
- When continuous overcurrent flows through the unit, the bimetallic strip gets heated and bends.
- This defection releases a mechanical latch that opens the miniature circuit breaker contacts, thereby stopping the current flow in the circuit.
- To retract the flow of current, the MCB must be manually turned ON.
- During short circuits, the current rises suddenly, which causes the electromagnetic displacement of the plunger in a tripping coil or solenoid.
- This plunger strikes the trip lever, causing an immediate release of the latch mechanism, thus opening the circuit breaker contacts again.
Features:
- This MCB features a non-interchangeable, thermal-magnetic trip mechanism that avoids nuisance tripping on mild overloads while automatically opening the circuit in case of overcurrent.
- The dual-pole design provides an interrupting rating of 10kAIC at 120VAC and the compact design minimises panel sizing.
- It comes with a cable-in / cable-out type connection for easy panel mounting.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. What is the thermal-magnetic trip mechanism?
A. MCBs come with a bi-metallic strip that protects against overloads and an electromagnet that protects against short circuits.
Q. What is a Quicklag circuit breaker?
A. Quicklag Series MCBs feature steel frame calibration, toggle centre trip position indication, arc chutes in every pole and ratings up to 100A.
Q. What is the difference between non-interchangeable and interchangeable circuit breakers?
A.
- When the trip unit in non-interchangeable or fixed breakers needs to be replaced, the entire breaker must be changed.
- In interchangeable breakers, only the trip needs to be replaced.
