Q. How do you install a snap ring?
A.
- Insert the plier tips into the holes at the snap ring's end.
- Open the pliers so that the arms of the snap ring are pulled back and the ring's loop widens.
- Place the expanded snap ring over the wheel's groove.
- Gently close the pliers until the ring rests in the groove.
- Withdraw the pliers' tips from the snap ring's holes to allow the ring to snap into the groove.
- If the snap ring is not properly seated within the groove, it will snap off.
Q. How do you open a retaining ring?
A. To take out a retaining ring, use a screwdriver or staple remover for prying out the end and spiralling the ring out.
